FUNDRAISING TO BE DIRECTED TO THE SAFETY OF THOSE WORKING IN THE PRIMARY SECTOR

ASES CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE SAFETY OF THOSE WORKING IN THE PRIMARY SECTOR

The outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic has brought to light the need to strengthen and sustain, albeit with due precautions, that value of community and closeness that have always been part of our culture. While a sense of responsibility, even before the norm, dictates staying home to avoid transmission from Covid-19, unfortunately not everyone can do so. Doctors, nurses, civil defense and health personnel, the misericordie, and assistance associations, just to name a few examples , are called upon today to be present on the front lines and, when possible, to ensure a greater commitment.

Among those who cannot stay cooped up in their homes are also the farmers, more than 900,000 of them, who work tirelessly every day to secure the food we all need. Thanks to their efforts and those of many volunteers who cooperate with the primary sector, not only are the supermarket shelves always stocked but also many elderly people, especially those living in rural areas, can have comfort, food and assistance. The very difficult time we are experiencing has forcefully highlighted how we need to rebuild a network of social solidarity and widespread assistance that is across the board and does not neglect those who live or work in rural areas. At this time, however, to pursue this goal, it is clear that first of all the health safety of these people must be protected .

Building on this awareness the solidarity campaign launched by Ases under the name “Let’s Protect Farmers” has kicked off, which consists of launching a fundraiser to be used for the safety of workers in the sector. We have rediscovered the strategic role of the primary sector and the value of activities related to it, now we must consider the many difficulties that those who work and cooperate with the agricultural world on a daily basis face in order to be of service to Italian families.

Urgently needed are masks, gloves, eye protection devices, footwear, ear muffs, cleaners, hydroalcoholic solutions and disinfectants, to be provided to those who work tirelessly for our well-being and that of our azians.

Donate too, help those who cannot stay at home.

Let us not forget those who provide us with food and food security and those who are committed to helping the weak and marginalized today. The funds raised will be fully used to ensure their health security. Even a small contribution can make a difference.
