The positive experience of the pilot project led to the establishment in the Nueva Mestre area of a second rural settlement to house 75 families with a total of 500 people. Also for this project, ASeS signed a Convention on International Cooperation with the Government of Paraguay in March 1996. The first stage of this second settlement, 35 houses, was finished in February 1997, and the second stage for another 40 houses began. In order for families living marginalized on the edge of the Transchaco road to be convinced of the need to elevate themselves humanly and economically by voluntarily agreeing to participate in the project, a process of awareness raising is carried out through a training stage conducted at the same time as the settlement implementation.
