PLACE: Nueva Mestre, Central Chaco
COUNTY: Ministry of Public and Civil Works.
A great many disasters were caused by the “niño” phenomenon that occurred in early 1998. Torrential rains caused flooding in the Central Chaco and the destruction of the 42-kilometer earthen road that connected Nueva Mestre to the Transchaco International paved road. Once the waters receded, the road had to be rehabilitated by building 23 wooden bridges, 3 meters long by 4 meters wide, in order to facilitate water runoff.
In addition to the European Union, the City of Venice, various citizens and public and private institutions in the Veneto region participated in this initiative.
